What is AZGV

The purpose of Arizona Gay Volleyball Association (AZGV) is to foster local, regional, national and international sports competition predominately for gays, lesbians and anyone dedicated to promotion of the amateur athletic experience for persons of all skill level and abilities regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, creed, religion or national origin. The primary focus of Arizona Gay Volleyball Association will be to provide venues for adult volleyball competition. Additionally, the organization will endeavor to develop people of all abilities and experience to participate in sports competitions.

AZGV offers and organizes 7 levels of outdoor, sand volleyball play: A, B, and C divisions in 6-man format, A/B and B/C divisions in 4-man format and A/B and B/C divisions in a 2-man format.

Where and When we Play

Games are played at Indian Steele Park, located off Central Avenue and Farrington Lane just north of Indian School Road (300 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85012), at The Wyndham Garden Midtown, located off 2nd Avenue just north of Osborn Road (3600 North 2nd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85013), or at Los Olivos Park located in the Northeast corner of East Indian School and 28th Street (2802 E. Devonshire Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85016).

The 2-man format A/B and B/C divison plays at the Wyndham Gardens on Sundays. The 6-man format A division plays at Indian Steele Park on Monday nights. The 6-man format B division plays at the Wyndham Gardens on Monday nights. The 6-man format C division plays at Indian Steele Park on Monday nights. The 4-man format A/B division plays at Indian Steele Park on Tuesdays nights. The 4-man format B/C division plays at Indian Steele Park on Tuesdays nights. The particular location designated for each division depends on the size of the division and board member coverage for that particular season.

Registration

Team fees are $50 for Sunday teams with up to a four man roster. Team fees are $90 for Tuesday night teams with up to six on the roster and $100 for Monday night teams with up to eight on each roster. Fees are due before the start of every season. Teams must pay online via PayPal or with certified payment (cashiers check, money order, etc). To pay via PayPal, please use our convenient payment page. Please make certified payment payable to Arizona Gay Volleyball Association.

For the Fall season, registration opens in person at the season kickoff party on on September 13, 2018 at 7:00 pm at HB Hanratty's Pub (537 East Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85012). You may register online starting the day after the season kickoff party. All fees are due by September 25, 2018.

Only 9 teams will be allowed in each of the 6-man (Monday) divisions except the 6-man (Monday) C division which will be allowed 11 teams. Only 8 Teams will be allowed in the 4-man (Tuesday) night division. After this, a waiting list will be created. Registrations will be accepted in order of the teams that pay. Only teams that have paid will be allowed to play.

Season Kick Off Party

We will be having the Fall season kick off party on September 13, 2018 at 7:00 pm at HB Hanratty's Pub (537 East Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85012). Join us to celebrate the league, help the new players get integrated onto teams, meet your board members, and get your questions answered about any league changes.

Awards Banquet

We will be having the end of the Fall season awards banquet on December 10, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Charlie's Phoenix (747 West Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85013). We hope you all can make it.

Board Meetings

Board meetings are usually held the third Sunday of the month. Anyone that is interested is welcome to attend these meetings. The next board meeting will be December 18, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Wyndham Garden Midtown (3600 N. 2nd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85012).
